Are you leading an empty life?

Purpose

Is your life dripping slowly away?

Feeling empty, lost, powerless? As the days run one into another, are you sinking lower and lower into the mire? Maybe you don't even notice those days slipping by any more.

Whoa! The only thing we can't replace in our lives is... time. Those days are precious!

Time for an overhaul. Now, here I am, Mister Philosopher, going to solve all your problems in ten words or less, right. Hmm. But at least, let's stop that tap dripping, okay.

There is something you can do to change your life. It will change your thinking, give you a new perspective, and squelch that damn drip.

What is it, this magic solution to world peace and universal harmony?

Ready for this?

... help someone else. Now, that wasn't too hard, was it - and never ever in your wildest dreams can you imagine how much helping someone else can change YOUR life. The power is unbelievable. Starts off with just a tiny shift in your thinking - away from your 'disastrous' life, and onto how to actually HELP someone. You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people, than you can in two years trying to get other people interested in you.

Trouble is, the universe likes this kinda thing, and is likely to retaliate by changing YOUR life - and I mean Change. Who knows how this will manifest? Maybe someone will give you a book that will put you on a new pathway. Maybe the pizza delivery guy will casually mention that Yoko Ono is looking for someone to teach her Arabic on top of Mount Everest - and that has been your dream your whole life!! [and not too many taps drip on the top of Mount Everest]. When the pupil is ready the teacher will appear.

Whatever your current needs, the universe will provide: whether through ideas, opportunities, resources - stay alert for them, and you will see they are everywhere. Just turn off that dripping tap, and fully embrace this present moment.

A thought

Now, why are you on this page? Why exactly are you reading this? Heavens, why are you even on this site? Out of the x-billion sites you could have tripped over!

There may be something here written just for you. So maybe you decided, why not, why not hop down to Rio and build a dunny [Blog on 'Dunnies'] with Daniel in Rio?

And... why not?

How many days have gone down the drain already? And maybe it was nothing too serious, nothing depressing, nothing too crushing... just, ho hum again - procrastination. Want to defeat procrastination? Want to see how to do it? Now, you just go right ahead and email Daniel and tell him you are booked to come down and build a dunny WITH him. The day and time arrive - there he is, just him and a dozen kids, patiently waiting. If you don't show up, you screwed him.

Now, could you do that to him? Probably not, right. See how easy it is to overcome procrastination? Just go right ahead and make a commitment that will hurt someone else if you don't follow through.

Your tap still dripping? There are plenty of pages here to inspire you. God knows, my life was an alcoholic waste until Daniel banged my head on the wall a few times. Sure, the site is kinda big - and growing. But don't be put off by that: just click around and enjoy it. It's kinda fun, actually.

And that brings us to a very important point that I haven't mentioned anywhere else on this site, and won't mention again - it's a gift for those who got to here.

What do you do in your life for fun? Do you ever take time to do something just for... you?

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.

  • 10 ways to overcome procrastination.

    1. Just do it

If you've got some task, start it right now, this instant, immediately! Once you've started, you'll carry on with it. Remember, a constant theme throughout this blog is making that start - it consumes 70% of the energy of an entire project.

    2. Make a list

A few simple words only - don't waste time writing a book. Then put them in order - of difficulty, according to time and so on. Once they're done, take pleasure in crossing them off your list!

    3. Do the hardest thing first

A great way to stay ahead is to do the hardest/most unpleasant task first. Once it's out of the way, you will cruise through the list - you will be amazed at how much energy you suddenly have.

    4. Don't stress

The list might be too big, or too hard. So, ho hum, let it be just that. Freaking out won't change a thing. So, instead of panicking, simply... start! Amazing how much less stress there is as things disappear from that list.

    5. Reward yourself

At the end ofthe day, do something JUST because you cleared your list. Something totally relaxing... strangely, as you relax, this feeling of KNOWING you will slaughter tomorrow's list grows inside you.

    6. Stay in the present

You can't go back and undo yesterday, so move on. Regrets can keep you rooted in inaction. You just have to accept some things, and move ahead. And tomorrow... very few ofthe things you worry about happening, ever actually happen. Worry is a drain. Stick to today, and enjoy life NOW.

    7. Visualise your day

With your list in your hands, close your eyes and spend a minute or two picturing your day exactly as you want it to happen. Don't underestimate the power of this minute!

    8. Replay your day

This may seem to contradict above, but - at night, as you drift off to sleep, review your day. BUT see everything happening as you wanted it to happen... not as it turned out. Visualise a replay of your PERFECT day.

    9. Be happy

This is YOUR choice. Ridiculous as it seems, YOU choose to be happy, or stressed, or... When you are happy your productivity explodes.

    10. Trash it

Look at your list again. Some of those things actually don't need to be done. Im fact, if you ignore them they'll probably go away. So, give them a helping hand - cross them off right now.
