15 December 2007Now I can't imagine why that title grabbed me. Maybe yesterday when I moaned about how I wasted a whole year of the most precious thing we own - life. But Brooke, make a donation and I will change it, ok.
As for yesterday's tour... Well, it rained buckets on Thursday and Friday, which would have been great for us, as when it rains there ain't nothin' to do in Rio, so our alternate tour becomes a good option.
Saturday morning the sun burst through, and all the damp tourists rushed the beach to get what they came for. On top of that, the tourist numbers are way down at the moment, for two reasons.
Firstly, the currency here is very strong at the moment, so it is no longer a cheap place to visit.
Secondly, the violence. I won't dwell on this, it's a negative so why energise it, but suffice to say that if you want to come to Rio, email us and we will set you up in a good apartment - cheaper and better than a hotel - set you up with a guide 24/7 [ok at times he may be twelve years old, but be sure he's wide awake and street smart, and giving you 100% care]. Plus you get to experience [endure?] little Daniel. You will have a safe and memorable stay, that's for sure.
I didn't get near a computer over the weekend to upload the blog. At the moment I write it on paper, then transfer at a rapid rate when I can find the ONE dollar to pay the Internet Cafe. I know it's hard to believe we can be that poor, but ho hum it will pass.
