We have a second opportunity to borrow a cameras for a few hours. Daniel races up to the community and shoots like crazy, to put together enough fotos to cover the blog until Xmas.

Transfer the fotos to a computer in the Lan House, and return the camera. Next opportunity to have a digital camera could be weeks away.

Back to the Lan House. We start uploading the fotos to our server, for safety. Unbelievably, the power fails. We have the fotos safe on the computer, so all should be well. Power stays off for hours, when it comes back on a new guy is at the desk. Through an oversight he hasn't been told about our files, so ho hum deletes them. AAH!

It takes almost a day for me to recover. Been a long time since I was that down. Then I get mad and go hunting a tourist with a camera, and even though we are very far from being ready, we start our first free tour.

Our tourist spends half the day in the community, shoots many fotos which I upload to my server as fast as...

He loves the kids, the community, the concept. Turns out he is a Pastor, on holidays here in Rio. His church is currently looking for a project to sponsor, and their project must have a child-focus. What he sees here fits exactly what they are looking for. We have a long and detailed discussion about things.

Everything seems fine, until I ask him if he would be interested in taking Monstrinho to the dentist. The kid is only seven, but needs treatment so urgently, and since there is a God [ask the Pastor] the two of 'em took a shine to each other.

Whereupon the Pastor says: Daniel, this project is a great model, and I intend to take it back to my church. But sorry, I can't do anything for you, as these people are not of our church. When they die, they are denied Heaven, so it is really pointless doing anything to help them.

Christian Charity in action...
